Description: NEJAT Center is and Afghan response to
vulnerable Afghan people, working with the community for the prevention,
Treatment and Care of drug use and HIV/AIDS.

Public Health Promotion Community home based treatment and rehabilitation at Faryab Province
1. Provide services as home based community treatment centers with after Care services
Community Rehabilitation DIC Program
Provide Drug treatment in variety of new methods and community
support services for male and female drug users.
1. Self-treatment (a guide has been
developed that will inform drug users how they can cease drug use by themselves
or lower their dependency...)
2. Home-based (community) treatment (usually
engaged in when treating with women but can easily be widened to family members
3. Community Rehabilitation (including
the local community in the rehabilitation process and responsibilities)
4. Outreach-treatment and
Outreach to prevent harm consequences (Detox in drop in center through the
Hujra or Outpatient program, without admitting to the residential program.
5. Treatment through the
residential NEJAT Community Rehabilitation Centre (NCRC) within the
communities where individuals that cannot detox by themselves can be provided
with the needed care and assistance for the detox.-phase and where the
community takes over the responsibilities of the rehabilitation phase. (This is
implemented by NEJAT in several locations; community participation is being
developed in each center operated by NEJAT).
Community involvement will provide by default preventative
education and insights needed with people who are affected by drugs. At
the same time this will facilitate prevention of disease such as HIV and HCV as
well as STIs for the entire community.

A drop in place will be established for IDUs where they can be provided the Methadone. The Methadone should be provided by the government in regular basis.
Providing special campaigns to fighting discrimination and stigmatization among drug using population.
The project will made its best efforts to prepare the individual for finding employment. This will be done through regular skill and educational training programs.
