SANA
Singapore / Central Singapore / Singapore
Description: Singapore Anti-Narcotics Association (SANA) was established on 19 August 1972 under the Registry of Societies. On 10 April 1984, the Association was registered under the Charities Act. SANA is a Voluntary Welfare Organisation (VWO) set up to prevent drug-abuse in Singapore. We are a member of the Community Action for the Rehabilitation of Ex-offenders (CARE) Network. We work with volunteers and community partners to deliver sustainable preventive, aftercare and reintegration programmes. We engage with individuals, communities, persons-in-recovery and those at risk, by helping people to recognise that they can resist, and rise above the influence of drugs.

Evidence-based practices are central to SANA’s approach in substance abuse prevention and rehabilitation. Over the last two years, SANA has carried out five research studies to enhance our intervention efforts for people in recovery and their families.

SANA provides recovering persons with opportunities to strengthen family and social networks. We offer them a range of support services to equip them to face the challenges in their daily lives and to succeed in things both big and small!

SANA Step-Up Centre (walk-in centre) was set up in 2015 where recovering persons and their family members can drop by for assistance.

The two centres – Step-Up @ Sengkang and Step-Up @ Jurong – enable recovering persons to intentionally “step up” to the challenges faced in their recovery and reintegration in a positive and supportive environment.

The Annual ‘Rise Above – Overcoming the Influence’ campaign was launched on 30 June 2018. The campaign aims to counter the softening stance and misperception toward drugs; garner mindshare and support for a drug-free Singapore; and to co-create preventive solutions and projects with community partners and stakeholders. Schools and youths join the campaign to initiate their own anti-drug projects.
