Iran was among the first countries struck by the COVID-19 pandemic and is currently among the highest infection prevalence and mortality in the world. Evidence shows people who use drugs and specifically those without homes have potentially higher probability of contracting and transmitting COVID-19 due to limited access to personal hygiene facilities and medical care, and suffering from underlying diseases. Rebirth has shared its experiences on the pandemic with the global scientific community one of which was published in well-known peer-reviewed scientific journal as per below link and attach. https://www.sciencedirect.com/science/article/pii/S095539592030147X

Rebirth Charity Society is honored to initiate the first rehabilitation and treatment center for mothers and children with drug addiction problems in 2017 in Iran. The target group includes the most vulnerable groups of woman drug users and their children. For this reason, the center treatment and rehabilitation programs include comprehensive medical, psychological, counseling and social work services for pregnant women who consume drugs as well as drug-addicted mothers and their children. In addition, children of mothers who are admitted to the center enter the nursery school.

Rebirth has recently drafted a project proposal entitled,” Advocacy for preserving cultural heritage of District 12 of Tehran city through improving life quality of street addicts based on local development approach”. In fact, it carries specific objectives of both promoting social development as well as promoting inclusive and sustainable growth. In brief, the area is the oldest and historical context of Tehran with many historic sites and background. But, unfortunately, due to the presence of street addicts, it has lost its true identity; in addition, it has caused problems for the locals, so the project aims to preserve tangible and intangible cultural heritage of the area; organize the conditions of the homeless addicts; and make district 12 with better conditions for the locals to live in. In this respect, in case you are willing to cooperate to implement the project, please let us know in what ways you are able to support and contribute. Thank you for your attention.
