AfricaNPUD was able to assist one of its members namely BAPUD (the Burundian network of drug users) in advocacy. Thus, a ministerial ordinance No. 630/894 was signed by the MOH. It reclassifies psychotropic substances, precursors and prohibited drinks. The big results of this advocacy are that methadone and cannabis are no longer on the list of dangerous products but are considered toxic. This means that the regulated medical use of these products is possible. Note that for the next grant from the 2021-2023 global fund, for activities intended for PWUIDs, more exactly activity 170 concerns the installation of two methadone clinics for a value of 10,000,000 USD.
