Drug-Free Schools Uganda
Description: Drug-Free Schools Uganda is not for Profit Organization registered in Uganda. The Organisation is currently implementing a school-based drug prevention program whose vision is Safe schools, Education Success, is targeting 500 secondary schools. The program has a strong commitment to the health, safety, and welfare of students and their families. The program has trained 150 University medical students, 37 Diocesan Education Coordinators, 37 Diocesan Health Coordinators, 500 Head Teachers, 50 secondary schools that are ready to start drug-free clubs, and drafted a Drug-Free Policy. The program is planned to cover at least founded secondary schools; 900 teachers, 5400 parents, 500 community leaders, 600 medical personnel by the year 2026
Areas of interest:
Objective to help youth in school avoid the initiation of Drug Abuse or, if they have started already, to avert the development of Drug Abuse disorders (harmful substance use or dependence). The general aim of the Drug Abuse Prevention, however, is much broader than this: it is to contribute to the wider aim to create and maintain a school environment that is conducive for the safety, health, and well-being of students so that they can realize their full potential and become contributing members of their community and society.
